Log Scaler
SHIFT: Days Monday – Friday
Stoltze is looking for a candidate that has an eye for detail, motivated work ethic, and enjoys working in the outdoors throughout all seasons. As a Log Scaler you will have the opportunity to learn and/or continue a historic tradition in North West Montana while also operating heavy duty Log Yard Equipment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years or older and able to identify log species. Preference given to experience in operating log yard equipment and log scaling. Willing to train the right candidate.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Head Scaler and Resource Manager, the Log Scaler assists in scaling logs in accordance with the rules of the U.S. Forest Service scaling handbook FSH2409.11 using the Scribner Decimal C Scale Rule, evaluates logs for quality and conformation with log manufacturing specifications, as well as performing all functions of a Log Yard Operator.
